Live Honestly

Its not always easy to do the right thing. We need to strive to be honest, have good morals and walk uprightly. Today when I was driving to the store, I went to park my car and bumped the car beside me in the parking lot. I got out of the car to see if I had any damage to my car or the other car. My car was good but I seen a long white scratch on the dark purple truck beside me. I thought , Oh, there’s no way I didn’t scratch his car, because it was the same spot I hit. I looked around to see if anyone was looking, trying to decide how to handle the situation. Truthfully, I wanted to leave and act like nothing happened! Then I thought to myself, I can’t leave, it’s not right. He was no where near his car, but I knew inside that I had to find the driver. There were plenty of other stores around, but knew he had to be close. I waited next to his car for to come back. I called my husband and told him what happened. I wondered if I should call the police, leave a note or sit and wait. I thought, it could be hours before he returns. I don’t want to sit here all day. I don’t want to report this to my insurance. So what should I do. I just wanted to crank my car and leave, but I knew it wouldn’t be honest. Despite knowing, God sees all. So I waited longer, deciding that I had to wait and tell the truth to the other driver. After about 20 minutes 2 guys come walking down the parking lot. They looked like they could be really get angry with me. I was afraid, but I approached them asking if it was there truck that I hit. Yes why, they said. I scratched your car. How, they replied. I told them that my car hit theirs when I pulled up. They looked down and said, it’s okay, it’s cheap paint. I was a little confused. Why were they so polite. I told them, I was willing to pay them to get it fixed. No, it’s okay, don’t worry about it, they answered. I was shocked that they refused my money, and gave me a pass.

It amazes me, that God gives us a pass sometimes. He knows our weaknesses. He knows our thoughts, but he forgives us. He knew my heart, and knew I was trying to be honest and so he helped me today. So I know without a doubt that God helps those that live honestly, and Godly.

So try to be honest. Tell the truth and it will work out.

The Bible says: That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more, 1 Thessalonians 4.12

Standing For the Gospel of Christ

strong

There is a new progressive movement going on in some so-called churches where they accept anything.  They say come to this church and you can do as you please.  They say you can drink beer, you can commit adultery, you can find some other spiritual way to Heaven and still be forgiven, because you are part of this loving, accepting church.  They tell you lies that Christ loves you just the way you are, even in your sins.

Well the Christ Jesus that I serve tells us something quite different, he tells us that we must have a repentant heart; that we must turn from our sins and live a life pleasing to him… a holy life.  Yes, we are to love others and forgive others, but we are not to accept sin freely into our churches.  The Bible preaches against being drunk with excess.  The Bible preaches against homosexuality, adultery, lasciviousness, against lying, stealing, cheating, etc…..

I heard a sermon the other day, that talked about when Christ lived on this earth.  He was an austere man; which means: severe, stern, strict in manner.  He often got on to his own disciples for things that they did, such as when the disciples rebuked people for bringing little kids to him.  Another time when he asked the disciples to pray, instead found them all sleeping instead.   Jesus lived a perfect life without sin and expects us to strive for that too.  So no, he would not welcome sin into the church.

Today we must stand for what is right and contend for the faith of Jesus Christ; for what he stood for, what he expects of us as Christians.  We must accept falsehoods into our church, just for member’s acceptance or so we don’t offend anyone.  We should stand firm for Jesus Christ. What is this thing
that opens our hearts to others
Choosing to be caring
when others walk on by.

What is this thing
that resembles something of love
showing pity and kindness it brings
when nothing else can suffice.

Giving food to a stranger,
stopping when someones hurt
Removing them from danger
Lending an ear and shoulder to cry on

All Lives Matter

Recently we have seen a lot of shootings that are racially induced.  One guy is harmed by police so another man goes on to kill a police officer.  Why?  Shouldn’t we love one another and quit judging someone by their sin color.  If someone was injured would you check out their skin color to see if you wanted to help them, Or would you run to their rescue without thinking about it.  Recently I had the chance to help some women who had been in a serious car accident.  I didn’t look at their skin color first, I saw that they were human beings with lives that mattered.

The media is race bating.  They are creating chaos and for what.   We are all people with importance.  It doesn’t matter who we are or where we live.  We should love each other like Jesus Christ loves us.  He gave his life on a cross for all mankind.  He didn’t choose a select group of people that he wanted to die for.  John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world!!!!!!  That he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.

When we start loving others more than we do ourselves, then this world will become a better place to live.  What happened to the times when someone would help out their neighbor.  We shouldn’t do things for payment but because we want to. We should look for ways to help out our fellow man.  We are all in this world together.  Time we started acting like it.  Time to show others love and forgive one another.  Love can erase hate.  No one is better than another. All lives matter to me, all lives matter to God.

Southern Attraction- Young Adult Romance Book

Southern Attraction Coverart (2)

After tornadoes blast through Alabama in April of 2011; I wrote this book in memory of those that lost their homes or even their lives.  After seeing the tornado destruction and losing power for over a week, and seeing many lives changed that day, I wanted people to remember what happened not only to the state of Alabama but throughout the south.
Southern Attraction is a young adult romance book about a girl who loses her parents and is forced to live with a country-fied redneck uncle from Alabama. There she has to rediscover who she really is.  She goes from the snooty beauty queen cheerleader to part of the southern charm.  She has to choose between two young men that she likes.

Heather has everything she ever wanted; money, clothes, friends, popularity and parents that adored her. Until one terrible day, she loses it all. She is uprooted from a place she loves to a small town in Alabama with a uncle she doesn’t know. The small town of Huckleburg was nothing like Manhattan. Country rednecks owned the town and no one accepted Yankees from New York. Heather didn’t think things could get worse until a tornado comes and blast through the small town. Heather has to lose herself to rediscover what life is all about. She meets two guys that she can’t decide between who she really wants. Join Heather as she discovers that there is more to life than money and fame. Will Heather ever fit in and find true love or will she remain an outsider living in the south.

Excerpt

“Uncle Mick, something is wrong with my television. Can you fix it?” she yelled through the walls to Mick. Within seconds she heard an alarm sounding. “What in the —-”, she said. Her bedroom door came flinging open and Mick ran inside. “Heather, there’s a tornado warning going on. We got to head to the storm pit!” he exclaimed.

“What?” Heather questioned. “I said come on,” Mick said as he grabbed her arm and pulled her behind him. Heather didn’t know what to think. She had never been in a place where tornadoes ever doomed the city, so she just followed Mick’s lead..

As Mick opened the front door, Heather was stunned to see the sky so dark. It had only been a few minutes that she drove into the driveway with a clear sky. Now suddenly a dark cloud hovered overhead. Heather and Mick ran toward the back of the house. Heather started to worry when she saw a cement looking building carved into the ground. Mick grabbed the door handle and pulled it.

“Get inside quick or we are going to be blown away!” he exclaimed. Heather could hear a roaring sound like a strong wind approaching them. She turned to look at the sky when she saw a funnel shaped cloud in the distance. Suddenly, fear came over her and she didn’t know what to say or do. Mick pushed her inside, and he pulled the door closed. Then he latched the door closed. “What are we going to do?” she cried.

“Don’t worry, we are safe in here. I’ve been through several of these storms in the past and everything will be fine,” Mick said, trying to console her. Mick tried to act calm for Heather’s sake but deep down he was terrified. He was worried that the tornado was going to blow the door off the storm pit, and they were going to be sucked out into the twister. He had been fortunate in the past to escape a tornado’s fury, when it ravaged his neighbor’s farm and left his untouched. He wasn’t convinced that this time, he would be as lucky.

Mick’s words of encouragement did nothing to calm Heather’s nerves. She was more scared than she ever had been before. She didn’t know what to expect or what to think about the idea of a tornado approaching. That is something that she never had to experience living in Manhattan.

An extreme fear came over her and she was in shock. Yes, her parents’ passing had traumatized her, but she never felt this type of terror and doom before in her life. She was afraid that this could end her life and Mick’s and she wasn’t ready to leave this world yet. She felt her life was just beginning. She hadn’t lived the life that she always wanted to live. Mick could see the panic in Heather’s eyes and by the expression on her face. Mick heard Heather mumbling something that he couldn’t make out. Then he saw her close her eyes as if she were praying. She cried as she asked God to forgive her and to protect her and Mick from the storm. Heather wasn’t a religious girl but she believed in a higher power. She believed in God as a creator of all things. She knew that now was the best time to make her peace with God, because she didn’t know if she would make it to live another day.

Then suddenly without warning they both heard loud noises coming from outside. Heather heard a crash like something had been hit by a fast moving train. Then she head a hard thud and some clattering and crashing sounds. Her body could feel vibrations through the ground and the walls.

“Lord, I don’t want to die, please help us God,” she cried. Trying to keep his emotions to himself, Mick reached out to hug Heather. She held her uncle tightly hoping that the storm would soon be over.

The vibrations from the ground grew stronger while the deafening booming sounds got louder and louder. Then all of the sudden, there was a complete silence. The storm had only lasted a few minutes, but it felt like an eternity to Heather. After everything became quiet, Heather fell to her knees and began to sob.

“Heather it’s over, don’t worry,” Mick said. Mick was concerned and worried what kind of terror was going on inside of her head. He could see her distress, but he didn’t know what to do, except hold her until she stopped crying. He was hoping that he could regain his own composure in the process.

“Everything will be alright, I promise,” he consoled.

After sitting on the concrete floor for several minutes, Heather finally quit shaking. After seeing Heather come back to herself, Mick leaped up off the concrete floor and went to open the door to the outside. The sky began to lighten and he walked outside to look around. Heather slowly got up on her feet and crept outside. She was taken back at the sight she saw before her eyes. A pile of rubble sat where the house once stood. All she could see was a dirty field full of debris. Their furniture and possessions looked like garbage, scattered acrosss the ground.“Are you okay,” Mick asked.“Yes, I’ll be fine,” Heather replied. After climbing over a pile of of wood Mick said, “Look, your car is over there and there is my truck. Maybe they are driveable.”  “I guess things could be worse. At least we weren’t injured,” Mick said as he surveyed the area. “How can you say that? You lost everything in that terrible storm. Don’t you care that we are both now homeless?” Heather asked with frustration. “I know you are upset, but we’ll figure something out.”Heather couldn’t understand why Mick was so calm and unemotional. He has lost his mind or something, she thought.

Mick walked over to his truck and tried to crank it. The truck started up without a hitch. “Come on Heather, let’s go see if someone might need our help.” Heather was still a little shaken up and confused when she followed Mick to his truck and climbed inside. Mick started to drive down the gravel road leading away from his farm when they observed a horrendous sight. They both were astounded at what they saw before their eyes. They looked around as Mick drove and they saw piles of debris scattered along the road and fields. They noticed the path of destruction was over several miles and only a few homes were left untouched.

“It is weird but it looks like the tornado picked its targets,” Heather said. “I see what you mean. Some houses are left and others are completely gone. It even cleared out all the trees,”Mick replied. Mick pulled over to the side of the road by a mound of rubble. He jumped out of the truck and ran over to where a house once stood. “Is there anyone in there?” he yelled.

Please help us!” Noises came from underneath the wood fragments. Mick ran to the debris and started pulling off planks of wood and garbage. “Come help me!” Mick exclaimed as he motioned for Heather. Heather quickly hurried to help Mick pull off the jagged and sharp boards from the heap of rubble. “Be careful, these have nails in them,” Mick instructed. Finally, Mick could see an older couple peering out from underneath the wreckage. He dug faster but carefully trying not to injure them. At last, an elderly man and woman climbed out from underneath. “Thank you! Thank God, you came. We don’t know how long we would have been under there,” the man said. Heather could see how glad the man and woman were that they were rescued. Suddenly Heather felt good that she was able to help the couple. After checking for injuries, Mick told the couple that they were going to look for other people who needed help. They waved goodbye as they quickly drove down the rode. So many people were out examining the area looking for survivors and anyone that was trapped.

Heather saw steel power lines snapped in two. Cars and trucks were turned upside down on their axles. Huge trees were uprooted and pulled up from the ground with the roots lying on top of the ground. Cement slabs were robbed of the houses that once stood on their surfaces. Shreds of cloth that once resembled clothing lay on the ground. Pieces of twisted tin were wrapped around trees that still stood amongst the wreckage.

Who is God

For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? (Psalm 18:31).
God is the creator of everything from the sun and moon to man and woman.
Psalm 8:3-4 says, When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;  What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? This is a very powerful statement.  Who is man to God? Why does he care anything about us?
God is all powerful, all knowing, loving, righteous and loving.  You are his handiwork.

For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. (Psalm 96:4,5)
His voice and words are powerful. He spoke everything into existence. Psalm 29:4 says, The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. In Genesis Chapter One, God tells us that he spoke and things happened.  He formed the earth, moon, light, man, animals by his voice.

Who can know God? Deuteronomy 4:39 says,
Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; (Deuteronomy 7:9). The Lord is known by the judgement which he executeth: Psalm 14:1.

God protects his children from harm and heals them.

(Psalm 18:2) The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Psalm 34:17 says, The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

God is a God of love! Psalm 8:17: I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 John 3:16 says, Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us.
1 John 4:7-8 says, Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

God is a God of righteousness and judgement!
Psalm 7:11 says, God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. Psalms 50:6 says, And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Psalm 116:5: Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
Ecclesiastes 3:17 says, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

What does God require of us?
Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 1 John 5:2 says, By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 1 John 3:23 says, And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.  If you don’t accept his son Jesus Christ, then you are none of his. Romans 8:9 says, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

If you would like to become the child of God, you must accept his son, Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Call upon Jesus and ask him into your life and he will save you.   Go to this link to learn about salvation.

Whose Wisdom?

Whose Wisdom? is a great post written by Eliza from the holdingforthhisword blog.  We must obey God rather than man.  If the Bible says its wrong, it’s wrong.  If the Bible says that you must believe on the name of Jesus Christ, you must believe on the name of Jesus Christ to enter Heaven.  Jesus was the son of God and not just a man or prophet.  Many are led away from the truth and say that there are other ways to Heaven.  Don’t be fooled by the wisdom of man.  God’s wisdom is true and is spoken through his holy word, the Bible.

Isaiah 53 speaks volumes what Christ did for us on the cross.

Isaiah 53:3 -He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Beauty of Lighthouses

060

Seems like a lot of people are fascinated with the beauty of lighthouses. Maybe its the scenery sounding the lighthouses or the symbol of what they represent. Lighthouses are one thing that the whole world has in common. From Brazil to America, from Ontario to Croatia, one can find a lighthouse sitting amongst the cliffs of the ocean.

There are varieties of lighthouses; some beautiful and stand out, while others may be withered from age. One thing they all have in common is that they shed a light so bright that it lights up the night sky. Lighthouses not only help with navigation to the right path, but they mark out the dangerous conditions to sailors traveling the seas.

1stormlighthousestormlighthouselightstorm

If you look at a Christian as a lighthouse, they may seem not quite as appealing to some, but to others they stand out gleaming forth a luminous light of knowledge and truth. They don’t seem to move but are always there shedding forth their beaming light to admonish weary sailors toward a clear and easy path. They weather the storms and sometimes are surrounded by tumultuous currents and sheets of ice, but they still stand ready to shed forth their light without wavering.  Without lighthouses, this earth would not have lights to guide us through the stormy tides toward a safe and loving place of protection, in the arms of Jesus Christ.

lighthouse1The Lighhouse
There’s a lighthouse on the hillside
That overlooks the sea
When I’m tossed it sends out a light
That I might see
And the light that shines in darkness now
Will safely lead me o’er
If it wasn’t for the lighthouse
My ship would be no more

It seems that everybody about us says
Tear that old lighthouse down
The big ships just don’t pass this way anymore
So there’s no use in standing around
Then my mind goes back to that one dark, stormy night
When just in time, I saw the light
Yes, it was the light form that old lighthouse
That stands up there on the hill

And I thank God for the lighthouse
I owe my life to Him
Jesus is the Lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin
He has shown a light around me
That I might clearly see
If it wasn’t for the lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be?

I thank God for the lighthouse
I owe my life to Him
Jesus is the Lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin
He has shown a light around me
That I might clearly see
If it wasn’t for the lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be?

Virtuous Mother

mother

Who can find an honorable and loving mother,

for her price is far above rubies.

She is kind and offers a lending hand,

Giving to the needy and poor.

With strength and wisdom she takes a stand,

teaching her children to fear the Lord.

Her own works praise her in the land,

For her tongue is the law of kindness.

She rises yet early while it is night,

to prepare meat for her household.

Her clothing is humility and things that are right.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed.

Her mission is to provide a good home,

Strength and honor is her virtue.

Her children have no need to roam,

for they rest well in their beds each night.

She leads and offers herself a role model.

Her beliefs and faith are always in sight,

Teaching her children what is honest and right,

To care for the needs of others,

For she is a virtuous mother.
