Independence Day- 4th of July


Fireworks, family, friends, laughter, barbeques and celebration marks most 4th of July festivities. Why should this holiday bring so much happiness to the US? “Independence day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776” (Wikipedia). This memorializes the day that a new nation was built, The United States of America. This nation was established by men of great stature who stood up for what they believe in.

Quote from the Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. This sentence was to represent a moral standard to which the United States should strive for.

One part of the Declaration of Independence states: “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.” We as a nation should hold true to our first declaration and stay firm on our beliefs, not allowing anyone to come in and change our laws. This includes anyone in authority.

I hope you will remember the true meaning for the season and stay firm in your beliefs not allowing anyone to sway you. Have a Happy and Safe Fourth of July.
